Highlands & Islands Fire and Rescue Service

Retained Station
This station is normally staffed by up to 12 personnel working on a retained duty system. It is provided with a fire appliance which is equipped to deal with all types of emergency including structural fires and road traffic collisions. All of the staff are trained in responding to these incidents.

As part of their work, staff are also heavily involved in community fire safety activities, which includes carrying out Home Fire Safety checks.

A fire in a two storey detached holiday cottage, approximately 20 by 15 meters. The building was completely destroyed. The fire was extinguished using four main jets, two hosereel jets and small tools.

Fire in single storey detatched dwelling. Approximately 10 square metres of wood scorched and 30% smoke damage to rest of property. Extinguished prior to arrival of fire service with water and a dry powder extinguisher. Crews investigated property using breathing apparatus.
